Up to date information on covid and safety for visitors to Greater Palm Springs, San Diego and Santa Monica

Greater Palm Springs

On April 6, 2021 Riverside County qualified to move into the orange tier within the State's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

Within this tier, many businesses can resume modified indoor operations and activities. Businesses — including restaurants and retail — will be able to expand indoor capacity as of Wednesday, April 7. Family entertainment centers will be permitted to open indoor operations with modifications, and bars without food service will be permitted to operate, outdoors only. Outdoor dining, hair salons and hotels remain open for business.  For full details on this guidance, click here.. Based on vaccine supply and low number of hospitalizations, California plans to fully reopen on June 15th – this includes meetings and conventions. For full details on reopening, click here.

Our sun-kissed Southern California oasis has always been known for its open and inspiring spaces, and we’re excited to welcome visitors back—safely. Please know that while the safety of our visitors, staff and local community has always been a top priority, we recognize it’s even more important today. Which is why the Greater Palm Springs tourism industry is making a Safer Together Greater Together Pledge to implement the latest safety guidelines so you can feel confident that our oasis remains a healthy, positive and inclusive destination for all.

San Diego

San Diego is doing everything possible to keep you healthy and safe during your visit. Our tourism and hospitality businesses are all following the best-in-class public health practices so you can feel confident as you enjoy all our destination has to offer.

San Diego is currently operating under the “Orange Tier” guidelines provided by the State of California. Hotels are currently open, as are San Diego's beautiful parks, beaches, museums and attractions. Dining is permitted outdoors and indoors at limited capacity. Retail and shopping centers are open as well.

To protect both visitors and locals, all open businesses must follow the Safe Reopening Plan laid out by the County of San Diego. Operations and hours at many businesses have shifted to ensure the safety of guests. We recommend verifying any business' status directly with them before planning a visit, and we encourage all visitors to follow the guidance of our Safe Travel Pledge below.

Please note that travel across the U.S.-Mexico border is currently only allowed for trade and essential purposes. We look forward to welcoming you back to San Diego so you can create incredible memories—safely.
